I had a baby at the end of May. My hair started to fall out maybe amonth afterwards. My mom said it was just cause my hormones were changing. At first it wasn't that big of a deal, but it has gotten worse prgressively. Now I have to clean my hair brush out every day or so, or else it is too thick with hair to be able to brush it. Also, every time a I shower my hair comes out in 5-6 strands at a time, everytime I run my hands through to wash it. So let's say I have somewhere between 40-50 or more hairs on the wall of the shower. Then when I get out and dry my hair with a towel, I have another 10 or more that come out in my hand. Then the brush takes out more. Even after that, all day long my hair is all over me. On my clothes, my back, the pillow, the couch, in the car.

I don't always wear my hair up, I will be 25 in Feb, I have Trichotillomania, but have been decreasing my pulling since my hair has started falling out. Do you think that it has somethin to do with it?

I just started my bc pills this week, so it can't be that.

I guess it could be stress. But my life was stressful before as well. Why would stress cause my hair to fall out?

It's most likely hormones. Did you notice your hair was thicker and healthier while you were pregnant? It's the extra growth that you are losing now. I would say it lasted 6-9 months with each of my children and then everything evened out. When you consider how many hairs there are per square inch on your head, it's not that much loss. Are you still taking vitamins? That will help keep your hair healthy.

Trichotillomania has not really anything to do with the hair falling out that easy. Pregnancy and post hormonal changes might tough! Maybe you are lacking some key nutrition, supplement with a good multivitamin and ask your doctor about it for sure!

I had problems with losing my hair because of a medication I take. My dr. told me to start taking Centrum SILVER because it has extra Zinc and Selenium. Ever since I started taking Centrum Silver, my hair loss has been normal. (I am a 34 yr. old female, by the way--so I am not of the "normal" age to take Centrum Silver, but it works great for me!)
So, if you take a medicine, that could be part of it. I did lose alot of hair after I had my son, too. If you had a boy, that could be why you're losing hair because I think it has something to do with the boy's testosterone being transferred to the Mom. In any case, I would definitely recommend the Centrum Silver. Feel free to email me if you need more info....including the name of the medication that made me lose my hair. :)

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://bitly.im/aMKA2 While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

A lot of people will say streess, and that is true to a point, but it could be many things for example since you had the baby did you go on birth control pill, that is one of the side effects of certain birth conrol pills.

it very well could be hormones....but have you ever had ovarian problems? like PCOS? problems ovulating? if so, that could be it. hair falling out is a huge symptom for that.

if not, go to a dermatologist. they help determine what is causing it by the way the scalp looks. they can make sure it's not alopecia or any other skin condition.

I would say that yes stress does have something to do with it, but you cant be pulling on your hair AT ALL if its falling out. The best thing you can do is talk to your doctor.

You are probably malnourished. It sounds like an iron deficiency. You might try a big fat juicy steak. And lay off the dairy products, you may be overdosing on vitamin D.
