Annualcreditreport.com is free and DOES NOT ask for your credit card information! They only ask for your social security number. The site is secured (https: at the beginning of the addy)and you can block out all but the last four digits of your SS#. Besides, each bureau asks questions regarding credit accounts that only you should know.
You can also call or mail your request to Annual Credit Report Request Service for your free report. It will be processed 15 days after receiving your request.

I would only go with one of the 3 credit reporting bureaus - Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion. Other companies may be "free" but may not be safe - after all, your giving them your social security number and access to all of your financial information. Please be careful.
