Seriously, man has always tried to find the seat of the soul. We mostly use the heart, but it has been said it is the liver, the solar plexus, and the third eye (the pineal gland).
Our preacher always talked about faith "moving 18 inches" from the head to the heart. Actually it is a much shorter journey, between the parts of the brain devoted to intellect and those devoted to emotion.
I like to think of the Holy Spirit as residing in the spaces between my cells all over my body. It's a nice meditative exercise.
