For example, if you are a skeptic, there is probably a bunch of things you don't like. Would you not agree that once you recogize the reality of a Creator God, that it makes perfect sense to trust him regarding the many things that are hard to understand? For example, some people point their finger at God and make certain accusations as opposed to trusting God.

whynotaskdon - I agree. But its even more so, regarding hard to understand things.

Paganpoetess - Its silly to you because of your false premise, that God is not. But since we know there is a Creator God, the reality is that it is foolish not to trust God. He obviously created many GOOD things.

We know that creation was created. So there must be an explanation for all the things you don't like, related to faith.

J T - Good question. Name something you do not like. Since we know there is a Creator, it makes sense to trust him regarding your issue. For example, if you think miracles in the bible are silly to believe, when you remember that there is a Creator, and all things are possible to him, then the miracles are not unlikly.

icarus 62 - Thats funny. I think the reason man can do all these wonderful things is because of God. Gen 1:27 "And God created man in his image". Tell me, why does man stand out like a sore thumb in the animal kingdom? With his abilities? Particularly mental ability. Gen 1:27 is the best explanation.

Runeamok - You really don't understand faith if you think that.

icarus 62 - By the way, the reasons why man is so different are religious.

JT - My assertion that there is a Creator IS correct and very reasonable. Its way more reasonable than the big bang or ANY other inadequate theory.

No, I am perfectly content to be patient and wait for scientific explanations.

I assume you are aware that Zeus was created by man to explain what was not understood. What makes this new Christian god any different?

Very true, for example think that breaking a Law of God, is acceptable, when we *imagine* it will benefit us, like stealing when we are hungry, or naked. Some people do not trust that God's law of the prohibition of partaking of BLOOD, is a command to be observed always; Acts 15:20,29.

The Jews were forbidden to eat fat or blood. The APOSTLES, who had walked with Jesus, and were guided by holy spirit, rendered the decision of what things are to continue from the Law Covenant for Gentile Christians to observe also.

Notice the Sabbath was not continued, CIRCUMCISION, animal sacrifices, eating of fat, but these were:

1)ABSTAIN from things polluted by idols
2)ABSTAIN from fornication
3)ABSTAIN from what is strangled
4)ABSTAIN from BLOOD

Of course, blood transfusions were not an option at the time, but that does not invalidate the mandate. If we trust God that these are his laws, we will also trust him to bless us if we obey them, even under severe test.

Notice verse 29b..If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU WILL PROSPER, GOOD HEALTH TO YOU!

Many do not realize that other forms of transfusions are available, with proven better results than blood transfusions. And Satan would have us believe that we are going to die if we do not take blood, when in fact more people die from sicknesses from blood transfusions than the extremely rare case of one without any transfusion, as alternatives are available.

The Blood transfusion market is big money and that is another reason it is so promoted. The majority of the time transfusions are genuinely *required* is to prevent the blood vessels from collapsing, and other alternatives will accomplish that.

Faith in God, along with trust will encourage us to KEEP ALL his LAWS.

GOOD HEALTH TO YOU!!

Praise Jehovah the God of the Universe!!

Hail earth's new King of the Universe, Jesus!!

Welcome his wife, the Queen of the Universe!!

GOD HAS ONLY THE BEST OF THINGS AND DESIRES FOR ME,BUT I HAVE TO FOLLOW THAT IN FAITH, THAT IS TOTALLY TRUSTING, WITH NO DOUBT. IF IT DOES NOT TURN OUT EXACTLLY LIKE I THINK IT SHOULD, PERHAPS THERE IS SOMETHING THAT I NEED TO LEARN THAT I AM NOT SEEING.sOME PEOPLE HAVE THERE SPIRITUAL EYES OPEN AND SOME SIMPLY DO NOT,IT ALL LIES WITHIN THE INTENT OF THE HEART, WHEN WE COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT LIFE IS NOT ALL ABOUT US, THATS ITS REALLY ALL ABOUT GOD...IT MAKES EVERYTHING SO EASY AND SIMPLE. MOST PEOPLE S DONT GET IT BECAUSE THEY MAKE IT TOO HARD ON THEMSELVES.BEING A CHRISTIAN DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL AVOID ALL HARDSHIPS, OR MAKE IT EASY, BEING A CHRISTIAN DOES NOT MAKE YOU BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE...BUT BEING A CHRISTIAN MEANS I HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING ABOUT LIFE, AND WHAT ROAD I AM TAKING.

Well, perhaps it works for you!

Although I do not believe in god, I do like the expression let go and let god. It's a good rule of thumb. Just replace god with something else and you're golden.

If I were to knuckle under again, sure, it would make perfect sense to bury my head in the sand and leave everything up to god, and to explain everything by saying it's god's will, etc. But I won't, so I don't!

Trust God to do what?

Why would anyone need an imaginary friend? Why not trust Santa Claus & the Easter Bunny?

Response to additional comment:

No, we do NOT "know" God exists. As a matter of fact, God does not exist in fact, so your assertion regarding a creator is totally incorrect.

Well, the problem is that I don't believe such a thing exists except in the hopeful minds of frightened people on the earth AND I never will. I was brought up in churches and when I was about 13 I began to doubt and so I investigated many religions and people involved and finally came to my conclusion. There it is. And I am content in an existential way.

i personally dont believe in god. however, i dont have questions about reality or life. i accept that things are the way they are, and that i can never know everything. for example, if a close friend of mine died today, i wouldn't wonder why he died. i wouldn't look for a reason behind it. people die, and that's just the cold, hard facts of this world.

however, i understand that those who have concrete faith in god will always have an answer to any question. if anything is not understood, it can be attributed to god. if you ever have worries, you know that god will take care of you in the end. it's an ultimate security.

and while i can admire and respect that, i simply cannot find it within myself to believe that he exists. it's not that there's denial in my heart, but a lack of belief, if that makes any sense.

So if I don't understand something or don't like something, I shouldn't try to find out why but instead put my trust in a man-made god and he'll make it all right? Do you not realize how ridiculous this sounds?

Edit: You're entitled to your opinions just like everyone else but you're talking yourself in circles. We have higher brain functions than animals for a reason....To use them. We are driven by curiosity for a reason.....To figure things out on our own. Not to sit in ignorance of the things we don't understand and hope that some all powerful being will make it all better.

2006-09-06 12:09:18 · answer #8 · answered by PaganPoetess 5 · 4 1

WRONG.

I am a skeptic. There are not a bunch of things I do not like, only a bunch of hogwash that I do not subscribe to. One of those things is your religion. Therefore, you are incorrect to state that if I simply "trust in God", I shall....what? Like something that I do not, or understand something that makes no sense??? This is absolutely incorrect....trusting in God allows you not to understand that which you cannot, it simply sugercoats what one cannot understand and gives the explanation a supernatural origin.

Ill kindly wait on the sidelines for a real, scientific explanation...

I fully agree with the questioner and I know from experience it is true.
I can even tell this- how on earth I, an educated person, who thought himself to be gifted with powers of analytical thought, modern scientific training could have missed it for a good part of my life beats me.
