Yeah I know Christians try to convert people as well.

But it seems that any time anyone asks a question about or criticises Islam some Muslims post huge chunks of the Koran and urge people to "find out the truth about our religion, come and join us blah blah"

Plus many want to change the UK into a muslim state.

Why can't they just enjoy their religion without trying to change others? I'm a White Briton and Islam has nothing to do with my culture or heritage or history. I have no interest in converting, thanks!!!

They are ignorant of Salvation through Jesus Christ....

They reject Him as the Son of God / Messiah.

I am English, a sort of neutral colour with a tan, I am part of this multicultural society isn't it time you really started to look at what you are missing, the diversity of the UK is its strength, and we will never become a Muslim state, nor Chinese, nor African,or Polish, or Italian, or Jewish, or American, for such a little fish in a big pond, we as Britons have influenced more cultures than all the Muslims that have gone before, our language is the universal language and is adopted as most countries second language,it is the language of commerce and trade as well as banking.
and may i say that you are incorrect when you say that Islam has nothing to do with your heritage, are you forgetting the crusades, the knights Templar the knights of St John, the Hospitaliers etc.
there is not one country upon this earth that has not influenced our past in some way. think about it. regards FL

I appreciate your question.

It's possible that whenever any question is asked 'against' Islam, Muslims try to clarify in details. And the answers often contain a line "Know about Islam or, find out the truth about it" mainly because most of such questions are full of ignorance. People ask questions just out of ignorance and filled with hatred. If anyone studies about Islam online, s/he can get answers to any query about Islam. So what do you want? When people attack Islam with such words, should Muslims stay quiet? And when Muslims suggest them to know the truth (just suggestion, no force) it becomes "trying to convert"? How ridiculous! You said "Why can't they just enjoy their religion" ask it yourself and all other people first. You seem to be annoyed being "tried to converted" but did you convert? No. So anyone can choose whether to convert or not, as you chose not to. So what's the problem?

A Muslim may invite you to Islam because s/he knows Islam is only acceptable religion to God, no matter what people say about it. So basically, from Islamic viewpoint, she/he is giving you an option of saving yourself from potential burning in Hellfire when your culture, heritage or history can't save you. And that's why s/he should be appraised.

The huge, substantial and rich source of Islam may look like "chunks or junks" to jealous people who don't have a perfectly established religion like Islam. Get over it.

My sister has married a Muslim. Whenever we talk about religion he suggests I read the Koran to understand it a bit better then we can chat properly. I have read some of the Koran and you will find a lot of people you know from the Bible as you do in other religions too. I am not sure they are trying to convert us, more like they think if we want to know something we should read the Koran and maybe we will understand the non-extreme Muslims because of it. I myself have suggested he read the Bible!

They believe that Islam is the only way to reach God, and that anyone who thinks otherwise is an infidel worthy of death.

However, the only way is Christianity, through faith in Christ. I believe this and want everyone else to know it too...but I don't think killing people is the way to further that message.

But as a White Briton, does a Jewish carpenter from 2000 years ago really have much to do with your culture, heritage and history, except that people have been following the Way for most of that 2000 years?

As you said yourself, Christians do it too.

"...any time anyone asks a question about or criticises Islam some Muslims post huge chunks of the Koran and urge people to "find out the truth about our religion, come and join us blah blah"

um, to answer the question? Someone criticized our religion or asked a question about it, how else do you want us to answer?

To actually answer your question:

Because it's part of their religion. The Quran states that when one meets an infidel (anyone who isn't Muslim) they should try to convert them. If that doesn't work, they're supposed to either enslave them or kill them.

I'm pretty sure the Hebrew Scriptures (or "Old Testament") says pretty much the same thing.

Also, as you stated, there are lot of sects of Christianity that very openly evangelize (a.k.a. Evangelical Christians). They basically do the exact same thing, heading over to Africa or South America or where ever to do their "missions."

Then why you are not asking the same question from christians ?

and if somebody doesnt like the religion wich has nothing to do with them , why they criticise it or question it . when you question , you will hear the answer .

And please open you eyes, What ever the christians do no body blame them if a muslim does the same thing every body asks why . Is it equality or being non judgemental ? I dont think so.

wow. in all the time i lived in birmingham i was never approached by a muslim to convert. in fact, my best friend is muslim, and she's never tried to persuade me to "join".

i've been pestered by jesus freaks in shopping centres, and hidden in my own home from jehovah's witnesses.

islam is more than just a religion in the way that we westerners see religion, it's an entire way of life - even effecting what kind of bank account you use and whether you can ever afford to own a house.

i cannot imagine a single genuine muslim trying to persuade a non-muslim to come and join.

the first part of your sentence may be correct "find out the truth about our religion" because we ought to; it's appalling how many ignorant fools spread lies about islam.

to be honest, you sound like a silly school child who ought to get back to her homework and stop reading mummy and daddy's daily mail

Muslims have a duty to convert the unbeliever to Islam. They have no choice in the matter.
