Breach of the peace is a catch-all term that basically refers to the inappropriate disruption or disturbance of others.
For example, a rock band playing loud music at an outdoor concert wouldn't be considered a breach of the peace. However, a rock band playing loud music in the middle of your street at 2 a.m. might be.

It is conduct likely to cause public harassment or distress that falls outside such criminal law as Disorderly/Threatening/Abusive etc. behaviour. In UK, a Police Officer may arrest without warrant, any person whom he reasonably suspects of committing, having committed, or being about to commit a Breach of the Peace. It is a 'catch all' type of event/occurrence where if the officer were to do nothing, trouble would be likely to continue or commence. The person arrested would be taken to court and the Magistrate invited to Bind the Prisoner over to Keep the Peace. Nowadays, once the cause of the Breach no longer exists, the officer will generally speaking, if the person involved has quietened down, release him with a warning............. Scotland seems to be different with a 'Breach' being a specific offense.....

The same thing as disturbing the peace. You can get that from throwing a loud party, drunkin disorderly, or resisting arrest.
