The Chia pet obviously isn't eating because it needs a companion. So help the poor woman out by buying her another one. Preferably one that looks like the one she has, they'll get along better. You know, one that has the same length of grass on top of its head. She cares about children and pets, and eggs are good for you now, so no harm there. She must not like your kids too much, or maybe it's you that she doesn't like. Buy her that Chia pet and present it to her just as you see the mailman coming on down the road, show them a mirror, if they don't like the grass on the other side of them, maybe they'll take care of that uncaring mailman, then maybe she'll like you guys, and show her appreciation by throwing eggs at yours. They should take care of the mail carrier for her, that rude guy obviously must be bringing lots of junk mail, and who needs that. She's getting older, her eyes may not be so good anymore. There is a lot to read to see if you can get 10 Million Dollars from the Publishers Clearing House, and it must be frustrating for her. So, I think you should consider offering to send that for her, that would be a thoughtful gesture on your part. She just might win, then she could get more eggs to throw at the neighborhood kids and pets. It's all good if you have a heart, just offer to help her. You could even go get the pitch fork for her, that would be the neighborly thing to do.

If she has family and you have met them, call them and explain the situation. Eventually some mother will get tired of the eggs being thrown and law enforcement will be contacted. They probably will be bright enough to recognize that the woman needs help. If she's not hurting herself or others there is not really anything you could/should to at this point. However, if her behavior becomes self destructive or harmful to others, you should contact the proper authorities!

If I were you I would call Adult Protective Services on her and let them know of her strange behavior. She sounds like she needs help bad. I knew a lady that hoarded everything I was delivering newspapers (i'm 46) to her and she asked me in one day. There were stacks and stacks of old newspapers everywhere. You couldn't move except through a small path. She had cats everywhere the smell was horrible but the worst was that everywhere that you look, and i am not exagerating everywhere there were cockroaches. Adult protective services was finally called by a neighbor and she now lives in a psychiatric home. To yourself and her a favor call them.

Your neighbor may be suffering from dementia and is a potential danger to herself and to others. Contact Adult Protective Services a division of Public Social Services. If they can't help her they will know who can come out to see and evaluate her. You are a good and compassionate neighbor to be so concerned.

Gee! Maybe you first need to ask yourself this question:
"Would anyone be kind to me if I was in that condition?"
You might get a shock at the answer.
Try being a friend and talking to the other kids. Maybe even getting you all together and fixing her yard or something.
She might already have professional help.
Being there for someone, even a stranger, is a very rewarding experience.

You should call the police and tell them you're concerned...tell them that she is ill...or trying to be funny...and that she has threatened the mailman...I would try to avoid her...because she is obviously not dealing with a full deck...See if the police or social services can check up on her...

I've read some of the other letters, and there are some excellent suggestions. You will see the running theme is to report her to some authority who can help her.
