this question has come from a friend of mine - she overheard a sailing instructor tell a group of children about a "kiwi" and neither of us have a clue so we wondered if any of you guys knew.

eh?

do you have wax in your ears, or was it Jonathan Ross speaking? are you perhaps speaking of the KEEL, which is the bit that sticks vertically downwards from the hull (out of sight under the water) and allows a sailing boat to tack into a headwind without skating sideways across the water?

if you heard right, I haven't the slightest idea.

I don't think there is any part of a boat that is called "kiwi". Are you sure you have got the spelling right?

There is a Kiwi Kayak. That's a whole boat though.
