It is possible, but it takes a lot of time and effort. It doesn't happen overnight. I am now friends with my first love/boyfriend but it took a lot of time and space to be able to do so (we broke up 8 years ago). You both have to be on the same level (it won't work if you are still in love with him or vice versa) and you need to both realize that it can't be sexual AT ALL.
And when you start dating other people (it will happen) that will be another hurdle to overcome. At first my husband HATED the idea that I was still friends with someone I had such strong feelings for. Now my hubby has met him and hung out with him by themselves and he loves him as a person. It all can work, but definetly not overnight.

Sure, as long as you're both okay with being just friends go for it. The only way it's a problem is if one of you didn't want the romantic part of the relationship to end.

Yeah, some of my best (guy) friends I've dated and found out that we have no chemistry as a couple but we make great friends. Just make sure that you are both on the same page. just friends. be honest with him. let him know that's all you want and set up guide lines with yourself to insure a friendship with him.
Good Luck!

Sure. Just be careful it doesn't interfere with your other relationships. Ex'es have a tendency, and maybe even good reason, to be suspicious. Your old friendships can cause jealousy. If you are going to keep your ex as a friend, then make sure you don't date anyone who has a problem with jealousy.

Yes, as long as both of you are on the same page about being just friends, with no ulterior motives or hurt feelings, which is pretty rare.

Oooh, that's hard. Being friends with him is a great idea, but might not work. It's worth a shot though.

Maybe so, but allow yourself time to get rid of the romantic feelings if they are still there.

If you can do it..then yea..remain friends with him. You both understand why the romantic relationship didn't work.

I still don't understand this social crab: FRIENDS versus LOVERS. Do talk, have wonderfull conversation, if it ends with sex it doesn't mean that you actually possess eachother. Patience and no vanity, no posessivity!
