Chase is a dumb S-O-B. He clearly said he was in the "inactive reserves", aka the IRR. That's what they put you in if you don't sign up for the reserves (fact: ALL military enlistments are for 8 years, no matter how long you sign up for). I did 5 back in the early 90s and after I got out was in the IRR for three. Typically when you have a sane president you should never be called up unless its WWIII. Alas, we have Bush and he's a total d*umbass.

To answer the question, I feel for you bro--I really do. If for some reason I was roped into a situation like this I'd do whatever it took to get out of it. You can go to a psychiatrist and claim you hear voices; start hanging out at gay bars and say tell them you're gay; injure yourself badly (u can find people that will do this professionally so that it looks like an accident); etc. Whatever you do don't leave the country. F'them, you're a citizen and you did your tour. Let them re-institute the draft and get some of these college smartas#ses who like to post negative feedback to questions like this. Best of luck to you and I hope it works out.

Don't be such a pu$$y. You joined and stayed in the reserves because you pledged your LIFE to the people of this nation, and to the army that defends it. If you don't want to lose your life, then why the hell did you join? I understand that it's hard to see over there, but it's alot better than many other wars. If you didn't want to go back, then you should have gotten out of the reserves, since we were still at war. But come on, Iraq isn't so bad anymore, at least not like it was.

But as long as you are a part of the defense of this country and the allies thereof, your life doesn't belong to you. And I'm not just talking about losing your life. I'm talking about living your life for the people we defend.

But if you're going to take the pu$$y way out, just tell them you're gay and you've engaged in sexual acts with the same sex. They'll discharge you with a General Discharge and you'll be home in time for dinner. But you'll always have that monkey on your back that you gave up.

If it was a matter of defending your country in any way, I would say you should. But it isn't, it's an illegal war that is all about making Bush , Cheney and the other neo cons wealthier. Billions of tax payers $s are being funneled into their pockets, via Haliburton and others. Remember that during Vietnam Bush went to Texas for a little while than fell off the radar screen, and Cheny, had other priorities. So don't let anyone "guilt" you into anything. You could disappear and if caught you could tell them you were in training to be Pres. someday. Whatever you do, as far as I'm concerned will be the right thing. Good Luck. Our winters are fairly cold , so if thats your choice pack some warm clothes.

HERE IS YOUR ADVICE!!!!!!
You dont!!! You just do as you are told to do. They didnt make you join the ARMY. You done it to support and defend the freedom that we as Americans get to have. When we joined the military we took an oath. Keep it! Just rodger up and do your job. In America we call people that run from their military obligation DESERTERS. Since we are in a time of war that is considered an act of terrorism. Punishable by death under the UCMJ. So please feel free to "get out of it" there are plenty of soldiers who are much bigger MEN than you that are already there right.
How many tours has the average soldier in Iraq done since this war broke out? You dont have to support the reason we are in this war but you will support the country in which we fight to keep free.

in case you examine in for a 2 twelve months settlement you could have the skill to purely pass there as quickly as. this gadget is new to the army for a 2 twelve months settlement basically you pass to elementary then to you rather expert training for you activity. then you certainly will pass to Iraq after, which you're achieved with the militia. you could have a inactive reserve for yet another twelve months yet you would be some distance down on the record and we likely does not be mandatory lots human beings over there in 2 years. i think of the bonus in case you sign for 2 years 20,000 in case you decide on for a mandatory activity in the militia i.e. militia police, infantry and so on...

Cracker and MP were the ONLY persons who got the question. All you other dumb bithces like Chase, the arrow guy, suthyrngrl, q-bert and whoever else I might have forgotten need to read the question right and KNOW about the military before spitting shti out your mouths.
He did get out, INACTIVE reserves is a mandatory 'enlistment', he does not collect a check or any other compensation for this 'enlistment'.
Although we all knew about this when we signed up, it is very unlikely to be activated while on IRR. However, it is what we signed for and accepted. Getting out was a great feeling for me, a relief. I wouldn't gave gotten out though, if I didn't get hurt. I'd still be humping terrain right now.
I'm gonna just say, that I hope you held your current civ job long enough to have it held for you while you are gone. You should go, I would, I accepted it as a possibility when I enlisted.
You must have a HOT MOS or a STOP LOSS MOS, what is it if you don't mind me asking?
Let me just add tat2me as another one who got this question right!

Accidently break your arm or leg- it might get you out of it enough for it to be over.
Ask for a reassignment due to personal problems.
See a pychiatrist and say you feel depressed because the world will never change if you went back to fight another irresponsible war.
Be undeciplined and get kicked out.
Argue with your superiors and get locked up.
Get really stoned and go dressed as a hippie.
Try swapping with someone who's more gung ho about it.
Quit the army and open your own security agency- with Anti-terrorist training (give me a percentage).
Go to Mexico and retire.
When you go to report, any question you're asked answer: Praise be Allah, Hare Krishna or develop Turrets desease and swear at them.
Start peeing in your pants and say you gave a leak.
Become afeminate and kinda gay around your crew (becareful of being bashed).
Or just tell them your agenda is choc-a-block and for them to talk to your agent- this will lead to a straight-jacket.

Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Sorry to joke about it, it's very serious, but the fact of the matter is you'll probably have to choose between Iraq and jail. Get a lawyer, try to get an estimate on how long you'll be going to jail, and choose wisely. Good luck.

There is an outfit just outside of Baghdad where most of the officers are cops and State Troopers. I talk to them, and quite a few of the soldiers, on an almost daily basis.

The Lt's there make a real effort to boost the morale of their men, and while close to the fighting, the security is high, and the living conditions more than bearable.

All the guys seem to think very highly of the officers, and I personally know quite a few of the officers, myself. Though cops and troopers, they are AWESOME dudes, incredibly personable...and professionals. You'd be in good hands, great company, and lots of fringe benefits (to be discussed).

If you've gotta go, that would be the place to ask to go to.

Good luck, man. Hope you become an advocate when you get back. It's a tragedy in this country that those of us who care MOST about the lives and deaths of our soldiers are being labeled as traitors and Nazis. We care IMMENSELY about you.

I expect to get email from you.

This is what you signed up for. All military contracts are 8 years long, you knew this could happen when you signed. It is unfortunate, but you just have to roll with it. This is why the Army gives out the best bonuses. You can do it. Stay positive.
