Take a cotton thread bobbin, a rubber band, a toothpick, and a pencil.
Thread the rubber band through the hole in the bobbin, put the tooth pick through one end of the band and secure it in a small groove you need to cut in the bobbin, the pencil through the other end.
Wind up the rubber band and slide the pencil so the rubber band is close to one end put a little candle wax between the bobbin and the pencil.
Set your "simple gadget " on a flat surface and watch it slowly crawl along, as the rubber band unwinds.

take a pen cap and flatten its clip at the edge using a small hammer or something similar and there you have it... a plastic ear wax remover.
