He signed the check. It's on him. Get a lawyer on this fast. And seriously, a prior conviction for this should have taught you to handle money very carefully at work, and not to bring personal problems, especially financial ones, to work.

First of all - how the hell did you get a job handling money for a company when you have a record of embezzlement? Did you lie on the application? The boss did not know about it, so you must have. Secondly - your English skills are lacking and you seem uneducated. If you presented this story as a defense, I as a jury member would find you guilty of check forgery and embezzlement of $14,000.00. You have shown you are deceitful, dishonest and have a criminal record of embezzlement. Get a good lawyer, you are probably looking at prison time.

Get legal advice from a lawyer in your area. There is missing information in your question and nobody here can answer this for you, you need to tell everything to a lawyer and let them advise you.
Legal aid will have low cost or free lawyer consultations, or if charges have already been filed against you, you may qualify for a public defender. Either way you need an attorney to be giving you advice to protect your interests.

you better see if you can get free legal aid or freelegal advise, if you are being charged again by the police. Hard to understand your English. You might have to get a translator as well. Good luck. It sounds like both you and your boss were doing something wrong with payroll.

if he signed the check you are in no danger of being in trouble...if he fired you then dont worry about the repayment of the debt if he is causing you a problem....if he wanted his money back, the best way for him to get it would have been to keep you on the payroll....otherwise i'd let him sue me
