Do something unexpected to your house like blowing it up.

redecorate a room. start with your bedroom (thats what I did) go for a whole new paint scheme. don't do it in all just one color either, mix a few. my bedroom is blue, tan and seafoam green. looks really good too. use accent colors. Also, new artwork (paintings, scupltures, drawings) also helps to spice up a room. your wife will probably join in helping you change a room if she sees you are really into it. and don't stay within your comfort range either. explore a bit. you never know. you might spark a bit of imagination and realise that"hey, these colors DO look good together! I wonder why I didn't try this before"

If you don't want to change the bedroom, pick any one room in the house. Even watching those home improvement shows could give good ideas on how to change something. your wife, friends and family will be shocked. And pobably pleasantly surprised.

good luck!

Look for a new hobby that is out of the ordinary and which gets you out of the house...

Rock Climbing - most cities have one or more indoor climbing gyms. You can be in a comfortable and safe environment, but still get the thrill of climbing. I am overweight and relatively sedentary, but I and my daughter go climbing often and have a great time.

If you have Dog, look into agility training. Dogs love it and you will benefit from the interactions with your dog and with other people. Again, most larger towns and cities will have a club that can tell you where to get lessons.

Take up a martial art. Lots of options, from the soft and meditative Tao Chi to the hard and athletic like Krav Maga.

Go camping. If you live in the Southern part of the USA, you are entering high season for camping.

Take frequent mini-trips. For relatively cheap, you can usually find a Bed-and-Breakfast place in nearby cities and towns. Drive out for a weekend to break the monotony.

All of these cost money. But, they really do improve your quality of life.

Mix things up a bit....be spontaneous and surprise your wife with a mini-vacation...you know...a weekend getaway to somewhere close by.

Or instead of having dinner at home every nite, try going out to dinner every now and then. Make a goal to try every restaurant in your area before this time next year. Something like that.

Maybe also, taking a community course in like art or salsa dancing would break up the monotony too.

There are LOTS of things you can try to make things more interesting.

Become a nudist and regularly invite your neighbours round for cocktails!

Paint the walls bright colors!

Make love to your wife at unusual times and in differant rooms in the house!

Buy a large fluffy dog with incontinence problems!

You cook all the meals and do the dishes!

Sell up and move to a small farm in Wales!

Recreate "The Good LIfe" in your garden!

Get body piercings!

I have many varied and interesting ways you could stop your life becoming dull and boring, but I'd bet my socks that you don't do any of them!

How about changing up the routine? I don't know where you live, but there are tons of fun things to do in fall. You could plan something fun, but not share it with your family until that morning--that way, you'll get to plan something (which it seems like you prefer), while your family will think its a spontaneous adventure! Why don't you come home early and have dinner waiting when your wife gets home? Join a health club, a book club, etc...

Paint your whole house - each room a different color and theme. Go out to dinner somewhere nice at least once a week. Make sure to have a date night with your wife. Don't work too much - anything over 60 hrs. a week is crazy. If you like pets, get a puppy!!

Try and be more spontaneous. We pick up and go eat donuts, or suddenly we go to the movies, or take off for the beach over the weekend, or maybe the mountains. Play games, sit and talk, rent movies and watch together. plant a vegetable garden together. there are lots of things you can do.

Be spontaneous - throw a party - get the decorators in - do anything thats different!!!! Spontanuity gets sooooo boring - just jazz it up a bit for yourself - I would ask your wife what she thinks though - before it ends in divorce!!!

Your home - decorating? Don't use white on the walls.
Yourself - do your routine backwards in the morning. Go out somewhere interesting on a week night. Go to bed later and don't watch tv. Get yourself a hobby.
