If you have a good amount of pocket money when you come:
Ask where a Library is.
Get a phone Book.
Find an apartment.
Find an employment agency, get a job that pays weekly. (get a better job once you are settled.
Go to Target, Walmart or Kmart. (find in phone book)
Buy a futon to sleep on. Plus a blanket.
Buy 3 towels.
Get yourself a set of pans, 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 glasses and set of forks/knives/spoons. Plus 3 cutting knives. and a can opener.
Buy Soap, Shampoo, Toilet paper, and Razors
Buy a broom/dust pan and a mop/bucket and some dish soap, and wash cloths, and scrubber sponges.
Other than that all you need are clothes to work in.
Eventually you may want a couch, and a kitchen table/chairs. plus a TV. But those, are actually pretty optional. I got along fine with out for about 2 months.

I know that America has it's own way of using the English language, but I'm sure they will have trouble with yours. Let's just hope you do not have to fill in any forms.
