I don't think atheists are trying to convert Christians... they are hopelessly deluded, so there would be no point, really. Nope... what atheists are trying to do is intervene to protect vulnerable minds FROM Christians.

The same reason christians try and convert atheists with questions for atheists. Conversion is a stupid idea, especially on the internet, i dont know why people bother.

I don't think atheists believe they are trying to "convert" anyone; they're simply trying to get theists to actually THINK about their beliefs -- to apply the same amount of logic and skepticism to their god as they would to the human beings they interact with every day. You wouldn't hand over your life savings to some stranger who knocked on your door and asked for it, with no evidence as to the nature of his character or his ability or willingness to pay it back; so why would you devote your life to serving some deity you've never seen, and who offers no empirical evidence that his promise of life everlasting is on the level?

I think anyone who is susceptible enough to be converted by another person must have a reason to doubt their beliefs just enough to let them go in the midst of a doubt.
In other words, you should really think about the validity of your beliefs if someone else can somehow convince you to let go of them with a simple question.

Not trying to convert, defenitely not. SOME Christians do that. Its just a place to express veiws and get a feed back and not a place to convert which itself is absurd.

They don't try to convert Christians, they try to cast doubt. This probably works on weak Christians. It is like Satans' old M.O., "Yea, hath God said....?"
It's been going on for thousands of years.
