If you look closely at those questions you will that they usually dont try and convert but instead condemn the choice to be an Atheist. Only one have I came across one such question 'for atheists' which was genuinely asking what Atheist are and what they believe.

Often when I've seen Christians start engaging in apologetics on blogs they are already on the path to giving up some if not all of their beliefs. I'm not talking about professional apologists who make a living providing plausible sounding answers for the faithful to parrot, but actual truth seekers who have their own questions, went looking for answers, on usually not that careful examination found some they thought seemed reasonable which they are certain will shut the mouths of the unbelievers, and just can't wait to share them in Jesus' name, glory to God, onward Christian soldiers, knowing when they do the atheists will realize they've been wrong, convert, and confirm the apologete in the rightness of their unmerited belief. And when that fails to happen again and again, and when they finally work their way through all of Josh McDowell's "Evidence That Demands a Retrial", and they realize that the answers to "Bible difficulties" amount to "straining at gnats and swallowing camels", they come over to the supposed "dark side" to discover it actually has the best illumination after all.

That is a really good question, I don't think this is the place to be trying to convert people, especially since there are so many harsh people here of all different beliefs. If someone wants to email or IM someone else and talk further, then that would be a better way to go about it.

Because they think that they have to "lead others to Christ" and that they're following a directive of Jesus. They also believe that unless a person is "saved" in this life, then they're "lost" for ever.
I'm a Christian, by the way, but I don't think that the Bible teaches any of this stuff. That's why it says that even Satan will appear "as an angel of light." It's because of erroneous beliefs like this that caused the Crusades, and has brought the UK and USA into Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Bible allows us to defend ourselves, but doesn't support aggression, nor the use or abuse of power.
All of these errors just bring God a bad name, God just isn't like most Christians nor Christian churches. Give Him a chance!

I'm gonna say that neither side is trying to convert the other. Instead we are both trying to point out all the flaws in each other's point of view or belief. Like the above poster said, one is trying to condemn and the other to ridicule. It's really quite sad, and unfortunately I must admit guilt to this one.

Cos they are ignorant. What they don't seem to understand is that 3.4 million people convert to atheism every year but only a very small number converts from atheism to faith. Anyway they don't try and convert atheists, they just say 'you are wrong, praise the lord blah blah blah'.

Fear.
Born again Christians are required to at least attempt to convert all non-believers in order to guarantee their ticket into heaven. The reason they want to go to heaven is because they fear the unknown of death. Hence fear is why they try to convert non believers.

Probably for the same reason atheists try to convert non-atheists with questions "for christians"?

I think that lots of people here tries to convert one another.
I see lots of non-believers who try to convert others.
Whether they are believers or non-believers, if they try to convert others to their own beliefs/non-beliefs, it just means that they are fanatics.
