I am sending attatchments from a resume program and the receiver using word cannot open them.

how are they trying to open it? if they are just double clicking it, it wont open. tell them to try saving the document from the email then right clicking it choose open with then choose program then they can scroll down the list and choose ms word
if that doesnt work
you can convert the document to pdf using this http://www.primopdf.com/
what this does is install a pdf printer but its not really a printer
once you have this downloaded and installed
open the document click file click print choose primo pdf for the printer the computer will do a couple of things then ask you where you want to save the file
save it and then thats it you have a pdf anyone can open.

You'd need to save them as a .DOC file for the recipient to be able to open them in Word. Try File, Save As and check out the File Types available to you. If .DOC isn't an option, try .RTF or .TXT instead. If none of those are available, you probably won't be able to open the files in Word.

What were they created in? What is the saved / sent extention?
You say what to change TO but not to change FROM ?
