than by "radical Islamic zealots" acting upon their beliefs, vowing to kill AND KILLING those who won't convert or believe? In the first instance you can choose what to believe and still live...in the second instance if you want to live you don't really have a choice...and in America murder is a criminal act. THAT makes me feel threatened and angry! Yet Christians appear to get more bashing than murderers on Y!Answers...and I'm certain to get a number of snide remarks for even asking this question rather than reasoned, articulate responses...

The RIGHT for freedom FROM religion?...read our founding documents...this is America where you have freedom OF religion...to believe what you wish. You have the RIGHT not to be murdered for your beliefs here in America. Count your blessings that you live here!...hope and pray that your government continues to do a good job (not perfect) protecting your and your family's lives. If you want to be free FROM religion you will need to find a remote, desolite spot somewhere on earth, cut off all communication and become a recluse.

Kathryn B...I don't "feel" anything about your atheism...God bless you...it's your choice and this is America...I have NOT bashed other religions in this question...I am, however, vehemently opposed to and am bashing murderers and terrorists who happen to be proclaiming their justification in the name of their "god"...a perversion of the "true" beliefs of that religion.

Well put. This is a crazy world we live in.
In my opinion it is because Jesus is the light of the world and light exposes what is in the dark. Perhaps people aren't threatened and angry at "radical Islamic zealots" because they don't have to "own
up" to their need for a savior, when confronted with them.
Blessed are the poor in spirit. (Those who do know that without a Savior we are doomed....)
Many who are hostile toward us zealots have a lot of darkness. (All you out there I said many not all, listen well).
Hope you have a nice day, get out and enjoy the day and don't worry God knows the heart of man and justice will be served in the end.

I feel threatened by any group that wants to force their beliefs on someone else. Yes, there are Islamic extremists who are worse because they are in a country that allows it. There are Christian extremists here and they worry me because I think some of them wish they could compel the rest of us. I see far more of the Christian zealots since they outnumber Islamic zealots and they pose the most threat in terms of turning our country into a Christian theocracy. That may be why you perceive people feel more threatened by the Christian zealots. I would strongly protest radical Islamist just as much or more but as of yet I haven't had a Muslim threaten me with hellfire or try to get evolution banned from my local school.

Don't get me wrong, as a person who was raised christian my whole life, and then finally woke up and saw the light, I agree, Christianity is the way to go. Don't get me wrong, I don't give two squirts about your goofy superstition. But, yes, the Militant Muslims want to rule the world and kill anyone, especially Americans, who don't bow, join them, and submit. SCREW THAT. So, I would rather support a Christian American, and no that you all are a bunch of goofy superstitious people, than be ruled by some Muslims.

They are threatening my right to be free FROM religion. The Christian zealots are the ones that are trying to make the US one country under God. We must fight to protect separation of church and state.
(Articulate enough for you?)
Regardless of how you feel about my atheism, our founding fathers wanted this to be a nation with religious freedom, but you are here bashing other religions. Are you suggesting that this be "One Nation Under the Christian God"?

Which is the more difficult to guard against - the frontal attack of a suicide bomber, or the flanking maneuvers of theocratic legislation imposing religion-based laws on the land?

It shows that they are in rebellion against God.
If you represent Him they are against you.
Therefore the statement "they hated Me before they hated you holds true."
God in you the hope of glory.
