I saw a small documentary about it recently, and I was wondering if anyone here practices, or knows a great deal about it. Seems to be more a way of thinking than a religion per se. The bad press it gets was put down to the links it has with belief in advanced life-forms ('aliens') having had a hand in the creation of earth, and people automatically think its's 'crazy'. The reaction to this was very straight forward - why is it crazy to believe in extraterrestrial life, and NOT crazy to believe in demons and angels? They have a point.

to be fair, the documentary was made by Channel 4 as part of a series. The presenter was a fairly well-known guy called Hardeep Singh

You are right in that alien life form belief isn't any more inherently ridiculous than angels and demons.

But it goes quite a bit beyond that. High-level Scientology doctrine says that a Galactic Overlord, in an effort to combat overpopulation, froze and packed up all his enemies in spaceships that looked exactly like gold DC-8s and sent them to volcanoes in Hawaii (and elsewhere) where they were blown up by nuclear bombs. Then, big spaceships "vacuumed up" the souls, and forced them to watch confusing and violent movies to brainwash and confuse them. These souls clumped up, landed in humans' bodies, and cause all our problems.

Sounds kind of silly, doesn't it?

How about when I tell you the guy who wrote all this stuff was a pulp Science Fiction writer?

Who had said that the way to REALLY make a lot of money was to start a religion?

Now, let's consider that Scientology doesn't let you know any of this story until you've been in the organization for years and years, paying tens of thousands of dollars, rejecting from your everyday life anyone who questions Scientology, and that they've had you tell them every embarassing thing you've ever done as part of the process. They tell you that knowing too much before "you're ready" can drive you insane.

All in all, you've got to start to question what kind of group this is.

I don't think rational people should believe in worshipping aliens. Also, look into the money structure of Scientology. It costs thousands of dollars to advance in that religion. I don't understand why it can even qualify for a religion. It is a money making scheme. But, to each their own. I would hope people would research it carefully before getting involved in it. Most of the people involved in it are wealthy new-agers that have so much money that it doesn't matter to them. Beware, you cannot buy a ticket to heaven. God does not come with a price tag attached. You get what you pay for, and in this case it would be malarky.

Neither is exactly "crazy" thinking. But both do suffer from a fatal weakness. Both assume the existence of entities & causes which are 1) absolutely unecessary and 2) have nothing by way of evidence to support their existence.

All of this is nothing more than a baseless desire to believe in "something." If that floats your boat, fine. But there is no difference between believing in these and believing in the Easter Bunny.

how can you believe anything created man other than the Creator?? believing in demons,Satan, angels, all that isn't Even important.believing in God is all that really counts. i believe in God because somewhere inside of me something tells me that God is and He will be with me .this is something that has always been inside me,not something i was taught, just something i have always felt.if i ever encounter a spirit or demon or whatever ,it may scare me but if they exist they will only confirm my belief in God.if they exist so does God. where are the aliens now?? God never said there wasn't or was life elsewhere.but He said earth will be mans dwelling place for a time so that's all that matters to me..

I once installed a set of speaker systems in their main building's sound room. Wow! Do these people have money! People believe in the strangest things because as human beings we still aren't finished creatures. Give us another 1,000 years and we will be a LITTLE smarter. ..that is if we last that long. We may be gone during this century if we keep going the way we are.

I had a brief experience with Scientology and found it to be very manipulative and money grabbing. The same can be said of religions if you are cynical enough but there was something creepy about my encounter with the branch located in London.

Scientology will make you crazy. Scientology is a farce and as the Hollyweird elite have consistently proven, Scientology will make you go looney!

the "documentry" you saw was made by the group. It was all smoke and mirrors to change the perception of the cult. All it is is a cult and a give me all your money so you can feel better about yourself.

It is crazy. But you are correct, no crazier than any other religion, really. However, I find some of their views on giving birth in silence and not comforting sick children a little odd.
