rules permit one case per adult when crossing from US to Canada. Case of beer is $40 in canada vs. 15-20 in us.

if duty on additional cases is <$10, it makes since to buy additional and pay duty rather than buying at beer store in Canada.

How about calling one of the Customs Stations at the border and asking them how much it is?

Canadian beer is better than US beer though, and higher alcohol content ... so maybe the higher price is worth it? LOL!

I would call and just ask. Best way to find out.

Not sure where you live, but if you're in Canada, call Canada Customs (they have offices and toll free numbers everywhere) and find out for sure what the current duty is.
If you are outside of Canada and coming in to the country and thinking of bringing beer with you, enter Canada Customs into your search engine and you can take it from there.
There's a HUGE difference between Canadian and American beer. The Canadian beer is much stronger, and tastes better. So you might want to try the local variety before you load up on American beer. Most beer stores in the US carry some brands of Canadian beer, so you can sample it there.
Once you get here, there are some specialty micro breweries, such as the Granville Island Brewery, that offer SUPERB beers.
And hey, drinking local beer is part of the holiday, eh?
There's also a difference in the Canadian dollar, so when you look at the prices, remember that the Canadian dollar is worth less than the US buck, so the price isn't as high as it seems at first glance.
