My question is actually how do I get my gums behind my lip where the piercing was, to heal back to how it was before. The piercing pushed my gums away from my teeth & it wont grow back onto the bottom of my teeth leaving the teeth exposed almost to the root. there is no pain now but when I brush those teeth too hard to try & remove plaque, it bleeds a bit & I stop.

I really dont want to see a doctor.

bleeding is a sign that you have to see a dentist.. but until you do, when you brush those teeth.. take your toothbrush, start at the gums and brush away from the gums, that way you are not pushing the gums up even more.. don't use a toothbrush that is too hard, soft is the best.. but really!! go to the dentist!! better a visit than losing those teeth in the future!!

As mouth sores heal fast unless you constantly pick at them, it sounds like your gums are not going to fix themselves or they would have already. The most likely solution is bound to be a skin grafting from the room of your mouth to replace the gum area that was lost from the piercing. It hurts, yes, but it heals quickly and more severe and painful oral disorders will be prevented. An oral surgeon would be a good person to see, and with hope it will be covered under your insurance if you have a good carrier. My brother had the same surgery, though not as a by-product of a piercing. His mouth quickly healed, but he was able to enjoy ice cream and popsicles for a few days, not to mention some Vicodin.

Your gums will never grow back like they were, you do need an opinion from a Dentist. Don't stop brushing because it bleeds a bit, your gums have receded, you need to get at the plaque under that gum line or they will recede further.

This is why dentists hate hate hate piercings in or around the mouth. I took my tongue out beacause I was always scared of breaking my teeth. As far as the gum, I think once it has receded like that, it is a big problem. Go to the Dentist, you have to.

Professionally speaking I suppose its a lower. so brush from the gum line upwards. do this faithfully especially every time you eat. u can get glyoxide. It is a generic antiseptic for mouth ulcers. It also whites your teeth. Eckards has a generic brand called dental oxide that is cheaper. Don't brush your gums away from your teeth brush from gum to the chewing edge of your teeth.

Sometimes piercings never fully heal back up.
Talk to someone who does piercing for a living. They should be up to date with some of the medication conditions due to this. If not, talk to your dr. or dentist. If you don't, this could get much much worse.

Go to the dentist and get evaluated. What a dumb fad thing to do. To me it does not look presentable; with the piercing I would of stayed in the house until it grew shut and mulled over the waste of money. Live and learn

Have you tried using peroxide? This will help heal your gums and it is inexpensive. A quart only cost about one dollar.

you really need to see a dentist about your receding gum line. it could be that you've got a gum infection if they bleed when you brush them.
