And could you comment on Shariah Law?

2006-09-06 02:57:06 · 13 answers · asked by ZombieTrix 2012 6 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

I'm a little bit mystified at all of the negative responses: "gop educate yourself" (what, exactly, do you think I'm trying to do? I'm asking Muslims, not just searching the web and coming up with what may well be propaganda) and "explain it for you? what a waste" (yeah... maybe it is, if you guys are my examples.)

I really appreciate the thorough answers I'm getting from some, though. I have to tell you - and maybe this is the product of being American, but with the way women appear to be treated in Islamic countries I am really beginning to think this is not a peaceful religion. I'm trying here, but some of you are not being very helpful. I have to say, a Christian (I'm not one and often get them mad at me by being a wisea** about Christianity) would not respond this way if I asked them to explain their religion.

Hi, Islam is considered the last religion of mankind. you can't be a muslim if you don't recognize moses and jesus as the previous messengers. the Quran is the holy book it is authentic it is the God's word to Mohammed peace be upon him. Islam came because the previous religions failed to stay true to their faith. For example, destorting the bible, claiming that Jesus (peace be upon him) is God or the son of God.and the shariaa is the law of islam.
it also apply to all mankind because it is a message peace, harmony, charity but also to recognize that the human nature can be cruel and deceptive thats why the punishment should apply. 2 or 3 muslim countries are still punishing the killers by killing them. and the thieves by cutting their arms. but all the other muslim countries have converted this law to a more civilized form of emprisonement. but still shariaa is severe against those who hurt others. I am a proud muslim.thank you for reading.

I'm not muslim, but...
Muslims believe that God revealed his direct word for humanity to Muhammad (c. 570–632) through the angel Gabriel and earlier prophets, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last prophet, based on the Qur'anic phrase "Seal of the Prophets" and sayings of the prophet of Islam himself, and that his teachings for humanity will last until the Day of the Resurrection. Muslims assert that the main written record of revelation to humanity is the Qur'an, which is flawless, immutable, and which Muslims believe is the final revelation of God to humanity.

Muslims hold that Islam is the same belief as that of all the messengers sent by God to humanity since Adam, with the Qur'an, the text used by all sects of the Muslim faith, codifying the final revelation of God. Islamic texts depict Judaism and Christianity as prophetic successor traditions to the teachings of Abraham. The Qur'an calls Jews and Christians "People of the Book", and distinguishes them from "Polytheists". However, Muslims believe that some people have distorted the word of God by deliberately altering words in meaning, form and placement in their respective holy texts, such as Jews changing the Torah and Christians the Injeel. This perceived distortion is known as tahrif, or tabdīl, meaning "alteration, substitution".

Good, Daniel. But, I would add this. Muslims believe that G-d is G-d. G-d is One. There is no G-d but G-d.

I am not Muslim, either. But, I do have great respect for Islam.

OK sorry but you turned me off by your first question really!! it's ok i understand where you are coming from.

Muslims believe in 1 God/Allah the God of Adam, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aron, Noah, Solomon, Jesus and Muhammed ( peace be upon them )

we dont acknowledge Jesus to be son of God, God has no sons, no daughter and no wives.
we do acknowledge Jesus to be a great prophet, born by virgin Mary (pbuh) miraculously, performed many miracles, taught the Gospel which is God's words, didn't die rather raised to heaven, will return and unite the believes (Jews Christians and Muslims) and he is our Messiah.

we pray to God 5 times a day.
we fast in the month of Ramadan every day from sun rise to sun set.
we give charity according to Sharia Law. (God's Laws)
we are required to perform Hajj (pilgrimage) once during our life time IF possible.

we believe the Quran to be our manual for living a perfect life that gets us closer to Allah/God and to be good to our fellow humans.
Sharia Law is simply the Laws of God within this book (Quran)
Sharia Law is a great constitution for all aspects of life.
whether marriage, divorce, inheritance and many other things.
i can not brief Sharia Law in two sentences that's why i asked you to research it.
I'll try to make the road shorter for you and provide you with some links about Islam and you can research every thing you need to know about Islam.
sorry if i offended you but i was offended too but i apologize!!

Explain it for you? What a waste? I guess your training of several months of bashing Islam was a waste too.
