Well , the rechargeable AA sized cell gives out 1.2 Volts per cell whlist the alkaline battery gives out 1.5 volts .

If you apply the OHM's law
{gives the realtion between Current (drawn) to voltage (applied) by electrical appliance}

Voltage = (Resistance of Circuit) / Current

Since the resistance of Circuit is generally treated as constant.., for simplicity sake.

Hence the Current drawn by the equipment increases. This might damage the circuit.

Hence you should not use rechargeable battreies ....inplace of alkaline battery (esp in sensitive gadgets like.....pace makers/ )

....You could surely use it in a Walkman / Torch !!!
And AND AND ....I think all digital camera manufacturers have approved the Rechargeable battery usage...since the DigiCam is such a power hungry device....most of them like the Canon DigiCam ..I've used in school even has a rechargeable battery charger +spare rechargeable battery for backup ..!!! if you run out of ...the bttery...

So I guess its safe to use a rechargeable battery in Digicam...
For sure--ity check with the customer support ...folks as well. I might differ.. for your owned model

That's perfectly safe and highly recommended. You'll save a fortune in the long run. Just make sure that you use batteries that are rated 2100mah or higher (Digital cameras need more power than most appliances.)
