Formerly i was a bad stammerer. but now i am speaking more confidently. stammering happens when there is no proper co-ordination of the mind and tongue. your mind is thinking so fast that it does not co-ordinate well with tongue. so always think and speak. never ever hurry. speak slowly and steadily. always when reading read slowly and you should be able to listen to your voice. do this slow reading practice at home or when you are alone. Stammering is in the mind not in the mouth. it is just a physological problem. so you got to control your mind. It is a self exercise. a doctor might help you to some extent. but remember one thing.......you have to cure it yourself. your sub-concious mind is full of bad stammering encounters. so you got to get rid of all these thoughts. without getting rid of all these negative thoughts you cant get rid of stammering. always think positively. keep telling yourself "I can speak fluently".
stammering...... is itself a long confused word .try breaking it to some nearby words as stemiring...and like that u cope up to nearby words slowly and slowly and slowly to match the perfect words....but its is a slow process and forget that u ever stammer.....and say what u think ....never process in ur mind what u are going to say....try to open up thoughts to every one ....talk to flowers ,try taking statues sing a song .....just express urself atlast stammering is certain type of speech defect its not hormonal imbalance.......just dont give up..try living live normally........................i know the word try is too hard to try.......but confidence do win wars
Stammering that is situational, is more of an anxiety response, otherwise it tends to happen in most situations. It is seen that in situations where the person is very anxious about the self, and the way one is going to speak, and how others would perceive the persons speaking. Also in anxiety, in high performing situations, in anger, when the person tries to speak loudly or fast, then the chances of stammering increase. So to reduce the stammering, you need to ensure that you are relaxed, for that learn relaxation exercises. Also make it a point to speak softly, and slowly, rhythmically in these situations. Also you need to remind yourself that you can speak normal as you do so in social situations, so when you are with your boss, think on what to speak rather than how you shall speak. Go confident and relaxed. It has been seen that people who have situational anxiety also benefit from medications. My advise is that you take a consultation for a psychiatrist as well, as that would be beneficial.
All The Best Surely You will get recover from this

I know this from experience...
If you feel comfortable around the people you talk to--that is, if you KNOW they love you and do not judge you negatively any time you stammer--the incidences of stuttering will diminish.
As you begin to stutter less, the HABIT of stuttering will disappear.
Try to not worry about it. :)

ABC reporter John Stossel is a stutterer and did a show about this. He used speech therapy which basically taught him to learn to speak SLOWLY and DELIBERATELY........Practice, practice, practice! I like the pebbles in the mouth therapy...makes sense. You could use anything, marbles, etc.....

i went to school with a guy who said he used to stutter and he did a very unusual thing; he put pebbles in his mouth and would speak (alone i'm sure). he swore that's what made him stop. good question, i hope you find the answer.
