If I keep my settings using the files and settings transfer wizard, then reformat the C drive, re-install Windows, and restore my settings, will that also bring back any problems I was having, as well?

Normally, I'd do just a reformat and re-install, but i have so many programs loaded, I just don't want to go through the trouble of re-loading them all.

If your problems are because of Spyware, it's possible. Part of the Files & Settings transfer process coppies your entire user folder - which includes the hidden Application Data folder and subfolders.

This folder can often contain temp files used by spyware to hide itself, along with cookie information and other temp internet files.

On the other hand, you can't just delete the Application Data folder, since that is one of the main reasons the Files & Settings transfer works.

Best bet is to scan and clean first. It may even fix your issues without having to format.

It may bring them back. It would be better to just save your important documents and pics and music, forget the settings and everything else, and reinstall Windows.
