My son is a 7th grader and I've wondered the same thing. I do know he has learned to call all the boys he doesn't like "homo" and the girls who don't pay attention to him "lesbo's". I think this is mostly pressure from the kids he hangs out with because he certainly didn't hear those words at my house...
