And if so, when you had to remove them for Basic Training, were you able to put then back in after you graduated or did you have to be re-pierced??? Or is there some way to keep the holes open with out showing obvious signs that you are pierced?

My advise is that if you are deciding to go into the Military, than you may want to reconsider having body piercings. You can enter with them, and I have seen Soldiers do many tricks to keep the holes open while in uniform, but think of it this way. As an American Soldier you are a direct represenitive of the United States, and some may feel that such jewelry is not appropriate while in uniform. Also if you were to read the AR 670-1 you will find that such jewelry is prohibited while wearing the uniform of the United States Military. Also having an area of the body that is open is not a good idea, for all you are doing is asking for infection to set in. So be on the safe side...if you are going to be a Soldier / Sailor / Airman / Marine then do it right, and ditch the jewelry.

No body piercing is allowed in the military (this does not mean that some people don't get away with it, but it isn't authorized). The guidelines are that men are allowed NO piercings, and females are allowed one piercing in each ear lobe, but during duty hours, only a single, simple stud may be worn. That was the standard when I was in Cherry Point, I do not know if that has changed, or if other services have different grooming standards.

You will have to take them out once you get to Basic Training. After all you go through in Basic Training, you will want to remove them, anyhow. In my experience, the females who had body piercings tried to hide them, but they were found out and were forced to remove them. It is better to play it safe, besides, you wouldn't want any of those piercings getting infected. If you are adamant about having the piercings and not removing them, maybe you might want to explore other options besides the military. Waivers aren't there so you can keep the piercings, by the way. Good luck to you whichever you decide.

AD servicemembers may not have visible piercings at all.. save females and pierced ears. This includes while being in civilian attire on bases and other military installations.

Hidden piercings are not allowed while in Basic training, in schools, or at any time while in uniform.

There is some debate as to whether toungue piercing is visible or not.

There are many ways to keep the holes open, infection comes to mind first.

I suggest you go in with the body piercing intact. The military will show you how to remove them quickly.

I know a bunch of females who went through with piercings. Its not like the drill sergeants are going to strip you and check for nipple and belly button piercings. BUT DS's have a tendency to find things out so i would reccomend just doin it right. Ou can always get something re pierced

The only time you can wear your pretty little piercings that will look hot on you when you're a grandma is when you are out of uniform and off base. (and you're not really allowed to then either)

My husband had his tongue pierced...and he would still have it pierced, but he lost his tongue-ring...while he was in basic.
If one has visible body piercings, other than a female having her ears pierced, and they're caught...they have to take them out.

You are not allowed pericings while active duty, including after basic training, while your still serving your 4 years. I think maybe you can get away with ear peircings, if you are a female, but not when on duty
