When I use the computer for the day it works normally, until the next day when I boot windows again. When I routinely do this, I always get a black, blank screen with a flashing white curser. Thhen I must restart Windows, and press F8 to select a different configuration to start normal boot again, and again. Please help me to get rid of this annoying problem.

Use Windows XP's "system restore" function to restore the operating system back to a point where it was working properly. Click on "Start" and then on "Help." Type "system restore" into the search window and follow the advice.

What do you mean by selecting another config? Sound like you got into BIOS. I would say check your floppy drive to see if you have a system disc in it. Maybe you left one in there and when you reboot, the computer booted with the floppy. But without know what you did exactly, it is hard to help you. If you did not have a floppy boot disk in the computer, re-installing windows is always a good way to address boot issues.

When you go to the Bios Setup look for the boot sequence and see if it is starting from another drive. You should make sure that it is set to start only from your HD which might be drive "C". Select only C then "save and exit". Try that then go to microsoft.com/help for an extensive list of solutions to XP problems.
