don't condemn those extremists and instead choose to keep silent about it . Why not such loud protest on the street to show the world they are for peace.

Okay I don't speak for them because certainly I don't know the answer.
But, maybe just the slightest possibility, maybe mainstream muslims have strong resentment against Christians treatments. They won't show it because they prefer to keep it to themselves silently( you know one can't do anything but to keep the rebellion inside). Its just like an active volcanoes waiting that right condition. The extremist is probably the right condition for them. They sense that silent protest brewing and capitalized on it.
Another possibility is that mainstream muslim probably knew exactly how dangerous these people are. And no way for them to know who are there enemies who dress, talk the same faith, and mingle with them. I maybe wrong but I may be right

Every Muslim I have ever spoken to is angry as hell about what the extremists are doing. They see it as destroying their religion, using their faith to evil ends. There are many Muslims who feel this way, but you'll never hear about it on the news. There was a Muslim march for peace in Washington a few weeks ago, and no one heard about it.

In the US, large scale peace demonstrations are regarded by many (including Christians) as dangerous commie/liberal events. When people in the US (I assume that´s where you are) ask questions like these, perhaps they should have thought about their own society first.
Also, your question belies much about your failure to grasp that most people in the world do not share your belief system, and unfortunately, you are probably among the group that gives the US and Americans a bad name around the world. It is precisely this group that created the conditions for so much hatred against us in the first place. It would be so much better if we concentrated on ourselves and left others alone. Please leave the terrorism issue alone, it is so overused by the media and gov´t it´s sickening. Do you personally know anyone who has been the victim of a terrorist act? If not, perhaps you would do better to concentrate on your own faith and try to be the best Christian or Jew (or whatever your faith happens to be) that you can, and stop promoting this whole terrorist threat BS. Sorry but I do not know where you live, but in the city I live there have been protest for peace by Muslims.
Muslims as well as Christians gather in a down town city park once a month with signs and public speakers. This was organized by Muslims in the city where I live after 9/11.

the reason the majority of muslims are not protesting is the reason the majority never protests any crime - they are more worried about themselves
think about it; how did the world react during the holocaust, the slaughtering of Native Americans, the ethnic killing that has been going on in Africa? If the majority doesn't have to face the consequences personally, they are quite happy to sit at home and act like nothing is happening
