You do not pray to your guardian angel, You pray to the Lord and He instructs them as to what they are to do and when. They cannot help you with out the Lord's guidance. Never take your focus off of the Lord and place it some where else. Keep your eyes on Jesus and always pray to Him.

According to my friend, who is a Jehovah's Witness, the question is not about WHO your "guardian angel" is, but what such a creature would be doing guarding you in the first place. Surely, if we had a guardian angel, and he was doing his job properly, we would never get in to trouble.
Therefore, the fact that we do often get in to trouble becomes proof enough that we have no guardian angel.
Further, if one really needs a guardian, it would be better to read, understand, and comply with what the Bible says:
Proverbs 2:1-5
Ecclesiastes 9:11&12

I used to call on who I had believed was mine. At this point I'm not really sure who they are. The more you rely on these voices the less control you might have over your life. You should learn to just make better choices instead. I don't think you can be absolutely sure where these so called voices are coming from anyway. She used to make a physical appearance sometimes because of the others that would intervene. It's like being stuck in the middle in some crazy game show. They seem to use other people sometimes to give you messages. If you have ever had a conversation with someone who than denied saying something to you shortly after this is just one example. Calling on so called angels doesn't mean that they really are. Although some of us might have so called free will others around you might be influenced instead. It's like invasion of the body snatchers and chess. Many would say it's all in your head which might be partially true but it's original origin might be somewhere much further away. The book of Enoch mentions the Watchers and the fallen which were supposed to be there to help us or visa versa.Present day similar people are referred to as remote viewers. Here's just one example*. There's one thing I remember them saying when it comes to possessing you; "We don't need your permission." Just because something feels right doesn't make it so. If Jesus was immortal what was the point in him dying? If Jesus was God what was he afraid of and who was he praying to? Science can't always explain what "other science" already knows. Just because something may be common knowledge or theory doesn't mean it's true.

Guardian angels are true.. BUT NOT ALL HAVE GUARDIAN ANGELS.. why?
only those who FEAR the LORD have guardian angels
Psalm 34:7 (New Living Translation)
7
For the angel of the LORD guards all who fear him,
and he rescues them.
------
PRAYING TO YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL? dont think so.. because bible even says SHOULD NOT..
Colossians 2:18 (New Living Translation)
18Don't let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. AND DON'T LET ANYONE SAY YOU MUST WORSHIP ANGELS, even though they say they have had visions about this.

I talk to mine just as I would anyone I'm chatting face to face with.
If I loose something in the house that I've searched for and can't find, then I'll just say simply "anyone else know where it is?" That's usually when it turns up. And of course, I say "Thank you" afterwards.
I've been able to feel spirits about since I was a child, and have seen two. One of which was my son's Guardian. The other was my late husband the day of his funeral.
Your Guaridan Angels are always within earshot, so never be afraid to just talk to them. Also, an angel can't read your thoughts or listen to your prayers to the creator, but I've given mine permission to do so (I did this verbally) for me AND my young son as it will help them watch over us better. That's their job, to guide us through this existance. We're on earth to experience and learn, but we're not without a guide.

You said it "some old threads" so you can't be sure that it's true that you should never pray to your guardian. Maybe this is true because you should ONLY pray to God. I think you can't find out who they are if there are guardian angles.

You pray to the Father in the name of Jesus. Angels are used of God for protection for people and also for delivering messages. Most of the time angels are invisible, but can manifest and look like humans.
Ask God for the help and let Him send the angels. We are not to pray to angels, but we can test them to see if they are angels of light or not.

No do not pray to angels. Some you can talk to.
Hbr 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
