And do you have suggestions for his replacement?

I know this question has been asked a few times already, but this comes in light of the Democrats' renewed call for his resignation and the mounting prospect of civil war in Iraq.

So far, a good lively exchange of opinions.

Donald Rumsfeld has offered his resignation to the President on three different occassions. The President refused to accept his resignation. It doesn't matter what congress wants - as Mr. Rusmfeld is a member of his Staff, and doesn't work for congress. Since the President won't accept his resignation, it is unlikely he would then fire him. Just goes to show that Mr. Rumsfeld knows he has screwed the proverbial pooch, but President Bush doesn't want to admit it, so we continue with no change and a lot of speculation which doesn't do us any good.

Donald Rumsfeld has offered in the past to resign and Bush won't take it from what I've heard.

We should be asking why Bush wants the failure in office, not how Donald Rumsfeld should leave.

He will not be fired or resign. He offered to resign approximately (2) years ago, President Bush would`nt accept his resignation.

The only thing Don should do is rethink his strategy about less soldiers. All the firepower we have won't stop the members of the Shanghai Pact when they finally decide to attack our men in the ME and Europe. We need more soldiers over there, or we need to bring the ones we have there now home. One or the other.

He should be tried for war crimes! His replacement should be Gen. Wesley Clark (although I know that would never happen in this administration).
