There are two types of pollution... that pollution that floats in the air (particulate) and gases. particulate pollution affects your lungs (just think of pollen season) and inhibits the amount of light reaching the ground (when a volcano spews ash, that reduces light, cooling the earth), likewise with industrial pollution from smokestacks from coal fired furnaces.

The 2nd type of gases... Gases will react with the atmosphere and light. They can reduce or change how the atmosphere acts naturally. Back in the 70s, there was a call to stop making aerosols with florocarbons because they reacted with the atmosphere and destroyed ozone in the upper atmosphere.

Ok...just go and buy yourself a spray can, maybe you can do a bit of graffiti at the same time to enjoy the destruction better, cos it seems that the ozone layer is affected by lots of substances and even natural phenomena can cause temporary ozone loss. Temporary, though.But the main causes of Ozone Depletion are
chlorine and bromine released from man-made compounds such as CFCs. So, maybe I should have said "man"..........
