This is so sweet of you. I wish there were more people who got along with their in-laws.

Don't get her any "stuff" to just sit around the house. Most knick-knacks are put up and collect dust more than bring happy memories. If you want something with a saying on it, get either a wall hanging or an afghan instead of something that sits on a table. By that age, she's probably gotten plenty of trinkets over the years.

Try a scrap book of pictures and mementos from you and your fiance.
A nice picture in a good frame to hang on her wall of the two of you with her.
Maybe a piece of "family" jewelry. Either something that symbolizes motherhood or the multiple birthstone jewelry.
A home spa gift set or day at the spa.
Something that includes her interests, gardening, knitting, healthy living, chocolates, books, cooking, etc... Talk to your fiance about things her mother likes for ideas.

Whatever you get, don't forget the card. A great card can make all the difference in the world when you give a gift.

Finding a wedding gift does not seem to be that hard. Just run out and buy a toaster or a crock pot and you think you have the perfect wedding gift. Well, these days choosing a wedding gift of traditional kitchen appliance probably won't be the perfect gift. Sometimes the perfect wedding gift is an expensive gift. One that you can't afford. Some couples will put higher ticket items on their registry to allow a group to purchase. These are usually luxury gifts they could never afford themselves.

Wow, that's so sweet. Most people would want to get their future inlaws nothing but a kick in the head....lol.

How about a gift cert to a spa for the day, gift cert for a manicure & pedicure or a gift cert for a night on the town (dinner, movie, show).

A nice piece of jewelry always works too!

Give her a day at a spa, or beauty salon. Pay for a massage, a facial, a manicure and pedicure.

Also give her a card, expressing just what you said above. How lucky you are to have her in your life, and how much you appreciate the wonderful job she did with her son, the man you are marrying.

You know, most people have too many "things". They sit around and collect dust and eventually someone gives them away or throws them away. Words from the heart is something we carry with us always.

Wow!!! this is a nice question from a future son-in-law. I hope more and more men will think the same....perhaps, a day spa gift certificate or a gift certificate good for a weekend vacation get-away in a destination spa? It depends what her interests are........

Only you can choose a gift from the heart! Why not make her a picture slide show of your fiance and his parents and siblings when he was growing up? Something like that usually means more. My husband and i did this after we were married and used our wedding pics too. we burnt it onto cd/dvd and gave it to our mothers. It defiantly got some waterworks. You can put messages on there too to tell them what they mean to you.
