I am unsure as to what you are asking. Please elaborate. Are you speaking about a room thermometer mounted on a wall, an electronic medical thermometer held in a wall bracket, an infrared thermometer used by firefighters to see through walls to search for victims in a fire?

Why would anyone want to know the temperature of a wall?

Well my best guess is that, the mercury moves to room temperature to tell us how warm or cool it is in the house. "Wall included".
