My husband had to gain weight to get into the Air Force. They recommended eating bananas, alot of them! It worked. Ask your doctor or a dietician. Good Luck!

Bodybuilders who want to gain weight (muscle) eat 500 calories a day more than what their body needs, and they eat a nutrient ratio of 20% protein, 40% carbohydrates, and 40% fat. Now, understand that their fat intake is almost exclusively mono- and polyunsaturated fat, which you can find in eggs, nuts, avocadoes, olive oil, fish/fish oil, and flax seed/flax seed oil. Their carb intake is almost exclusively fruits, vegetables, and whole grain breads/cereals/pasta. All of these things are 100% safe for a diabetic.

To figure out how many calories you need every day, take your body weight, multiply it by 10 if you're a woman (11 if you're a man), then take that number and multiply it by 1.2 if you're mostly sedentary, 1.3 if you're moderately active, and 1.4 if you're very active. The number you come up with is roughly the number of calories you need just to maintain your current body weight.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm.... Why would you want to gain weight? I lost 45 lbs. and feel great. Blood sugar is easy to control and everything.

Perhaps if you increased your protein intake a little and exercised a lot, you could gain some muscle mass, but if you're looking to gain fat, you're nuts. Many people here can only wish they had this problem.
