How do I achieve a glamorous 1940’s style pompadour? Website with “how-to” details for vintage hair styles

Remember the lovely 1940’s women’s hairstyles? Especially the one with the fullness in the top. I have straight shoulder length hair, all one length except for a very thin fringe bang in the front. I’ve found websites that sell wigs or wedding veils with this style, but I can’t locate one that shows a simple technique for achieving the desired effect. Thanks in advance to all who answer.
