l have found a 05 dodge magnum still new, sitting on a dealer's lot. Dealer said he would take $10,000 off the window sticker price. The sticker price is $33,400. So that would put it at $23,400 and still get the new car warranty. Iknow that the car will soon be two years old. Does this sound like a good deal? I've priced some used 05 magnum with 10,000 miles up to 40,000 miles. in the same price range as this new one. So what do you think. thanks for any help.

I would reccomend the new one.

Even though it is the same year as the used ones, your 3yr manufactures warranty will begin the day your purchase the vehicle. The used ones started the day they were origionally purchased. The used with over 36K miles have no warranty left at all.

Even at one or two thousand dollars more it is worth it to buy the new one.

I've been driving my '05 AWD Magnum RT for over a year now. Is it a good car? I'd say yes. There's not anything out there that I would prefer to be driving. It fits me well. Is it bad on gas? Depends on what you compare it to - compared to a full size SUV or pickup, it's pretty good, compared to an "economy" car, it's pretty bad. I needed something that could tow a 3000+lb trailer through the mountains and had a good amount of interior space for non-trailer hauling. Nothing with those characteristics had better mileage (other than some diesel trucks ... ), most were much worse. I typically get 18-19mpg in mixed driving, 23-24mpg on interstate trips running 70mph. Does it require a lot of repairs? I've had one warranty repair done in the past year, they replaced a leaky o-ring on a wiring plug going into the transmission - it took maybe an hour and was done while I had my oil changed. It has always run great, and has never let me down. It's been a great road car for me. The handling characteristics of the AWD, great brakes, electronic stability control and passenger protection features make for a well behaved, safe vehicle. The engine's power means that I never have a problem merging into high speed traffic, climbing hills, or passing (when necessary).

I say go for it. I would in your case. Its never been owned, has a warrenty, you cant beat that price. Yeah, its going to be two years old but again, its never been used and there has been no changes to the Magnum since its introduction in 05 so its not going to look two years old. Just think, a new car at a used car price. Sounds like a great opportunity.

The dealer has an incentive from Chrysler to sell the car. Grab it since the Magnum has not changed much for 06 or 07. I hope that you can afford the gas.

ive driven the hemi so if you can afford to buy it then can you afford to buy the fuel?i saw the gas needle drop when i floored that hemi.however at a crusing speed on freeways or interstate highways the hemi only uses 4 cylinders of the 8 to conserve fuel. dodge is the only compant that has come up with that idea.
