In Luke chapter 18, a rich ruler asks Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus tells him to follow the commandments and the ruler says he has done this since he was a boy. Jesus replies, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasures in heaven Then, come follow me." Luke 18:22 Then, Jesus says, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Luke 18:24-25 Why have money and material things when you can be building your treasures in heaven by trying to walk with the Lord and showing love and compassion?

Buddhism - second noble truth

The second noble truth states that the way we perceive things to exist leads us to attachment and aversion. Thus our own undisciplined and unruly state of mind is itself the cause of suffering. Desiring happiness in such a way will only cause our minds to become disturbed and our body to become sick and weak. This is the forerunner to the first noble truth. This is the cause of suffering.

the third noble truth is if something has a cause (man made), all we have to do to get rid of it is remove that cause. Therefore if the cause of suffering is attachment and aversion born of ignorance, it would seem that to rid ourselves of suffering we simply have to remove the ignorance.

the fourth sets out how to acheive this end of suffering
