A vegetable - like baby carrots or sliced cucumbers. Sometimes I include hummous or salad dressing, but usually just plain. A fruit - sliced apple, strawberries, grapes, banana, etc. A dairy free soy yogurt (food allergies), and a piece of meat. A chicken leg, a turkey burger, the most healthy cold cuts I can find like applegate farms or deli sliced low fat, low sodium, no additives. Sometimes whole wheat crackers, but not often, they are more of a treat. She gets plenty of carbs from the fruit and yogurt. Usually that is all devoured and nothing comes home. I give her choices. Does she want a banana or strawberries. Does she want turkey or chicken, etc. Does she want hummous or plain? Oh and water or juice.
Good luck! I think the key is that they are all easy and yummy things to eat. And if she gets hungry throughout the day, she has something that she can grab for a snack. And most everything goes in little snack bags.

We try to change things up. There is no peanut butter allowed. So, a sandwich with roast beef, chicken, tuna or something like that. Bite sized veggies, and a piece of fruit, or yogurt or milk. They also like wraps every now and again instead of regular bread.

It is that time again isn't it, sigh. We are trying something new this year. The kids are responsible for having most of their lunch packed themselves. they do juice, 2 healthy snack, and two not so healthy snacks. Main meals include frozen things, wraps(either with a meat, cheese, of chicken fingers. They also like to take nachos, they can just heat them up in the micro. for 30 seconds to melt the cheese. We try to keep it fresh, but it always becomes a battle a few months into the school year. Good luck to you.

Our kids went to the French lycée where they got French haute cuisine, no lunch boxes.
I suppose if they did have lunch boxes we would have had to provide pâté de foie gras sandwiches or baguette & Brie cheese with Parma ham, crudités, fruit tart, Rybena or Perrier water.

I don't have kids, but I used to make lunch for myself and my brothers and father every day. I would make sandwiches, or a box of salad, pasta salad, rice salad, cous-cous salad. Crisps, biscuits, fruit, mini boxes or raisins, vegetable sticks, cheese sticks, crackers. or if we had fish cakes for dinner and there were left overs I would pack those, cold meatballs were quite popular as well. In winter we would all have a flask of soup and chunky bread for dipping.
