To answer your question in a nutshell...it is a small issue today. The people running the Israeil Gov. today are secular and are not driven by any religious beliefs.

Palestine was largely Arab until the early 1900's when the Jews began to immigrate into Israel. As the Jews began to grow in number there was growing tension among the Arabs and Jews as the Arabs felt the Jews were growing in influence. In 1948 the UN granted 1/2 of Palestine to the Jews and 1/2 to the Arabs (now called Palestinians) The Jews accepted the UN's solution but the Arabs rejected it and immediately invaded the Jewish half of Palestine. For any American to say that the Israeli's should leave Palestine because it isn't their land.....maybe all Americans should pack their bags and give everything back to the native americans.

In 1967 Egypt began to mass troops at the Israeli-Egyptian border and Israel looking for the edge in what they felt was an inevitable war launched a pre-emptive strike crippling the Egyptian Air Force. In that war they conquered the West Bank and Gaza.

Israel is now in quite a pickle, on one hand they don't want to give the land back because they fear it will become a breeding ground for terrorist who will attack them. On the other hand they don't want to annex the West Bank or Gaza because they don't want another 2 million Arab voters that will the balance of power.

It's very much an issue. After the second world war the state of Israel was created and it was given to the Jews. Since it's regarded as the holy land the palestinians don't want to jews to have it, they think it should be theirs. It's not the only reason for the violence but it's a big one. And it's not accurate to say that the jews stole the holy land. The jews did not invade palestine. The decision to create the state of Israel was made by the United Nations.

because both think that the land belong to them alone.

children of Israel left this land thousands of years ago, Jewish got mix with other cultures. however, there are people who remained on the land and never go anywhere. those people got mixed with other culture as well, became Christians, then later became Muslims... after the WWII, the Jewish realized that they don't no place to go, so they said " let's take over Jerusalem and make Arab be our enemy" .

All wars are, ultimately, about land and land rights. This one is no different.

both are the scum of humanity. They praise the same God, live side by side and wouldn't hesitate to slaughter each other.
They have turned the so called "holy land" to anything but.
Wonder why there are atheists? Look at both them people and u'll understand.
