I think the reason you get the shakes and sweat is because you didn't drink enough vodka. If you get the shakes and sweat just drink some more vodka or Jack Daniels helps a lot too. It should calm your nerves and relax you.

That's easy mate!. alcohol is a poison /soft drug which when ingested affects the brain!.

All Alcoholic drinks contain different ethanol compounds /chemicals complex carbohydrate - (sugars) . there are two major effect associated with alcohol usage!. One is
(dehydration). This is caused by the ingestion process carried out in the stomach, where the alcohol is broken down into chemical components, and turned into a chemical soup! which then go to the liver which breaks the chemical soup down further, making fatty acids and storing them for further use by the body as energy!. Once the soup has been processed by the liver the unwanted waste then goes to the kidneys where its broken down yet further and filtered into urine. (excessive drinking causes excessive peeing) and loss of water in the body!.

The second major effect is caused when too much alcohol is consumed and the stomach liver process fails.. Under normal circumstances this process works very well and no harm is done!.. However when too much alcohol is drunk, the stomach and liver cannot cope and almost neat alcohol travels through the blood stream which affects the bloods ability to carry oxygen! .The effect is to kill brains cells compromising the motor control system of your brain and its ability to control your central nervous system!. movements etc.!..

Reasoning/ mood swings - (euphoria) and changes to both sight and balance / are due to inebriation!. (being drunk). In severe cases alcohol narcosis occurs (lack of oxygen) and the reveller passes out!.

Cold sweats - muscle tremors - head aches along with depression are common side effects of (hangover) and prolonged alcohol abuse.

Alcohol is very addictive in the same way as all hard drugs and should be used wisely!..
You should note that alcohol when used over long periods can cause an dependency problem (also known as alcoholism) "persistent craving for the alcoholic effect" and is very dangerous affecting the stomach - liver - central nervous system- blood - eye sight - and other organs with a cumulative effect causing long term disability. and finally death!.

Actually, though there are some good answers here, I haven't seen the medically correct one. A good deal of the reason that you shake when alcohol "wears off" is because booze suppresses adrenaline production. That's why you feel so CALM after a couple of drinks. As your system rids itself of alcohol, your natural production of adrenaline goes into MAJOR high gear to make up for the lack of the chemical in your system.

That's why having another drink stops the shakes...it once again suppresses adrenaline production, making you feel calmer.

I just had a minor rellapse with alcohol after a few months without it. The freaky, frantic shaking is the WORST part for me. It makes is very difficult for me to stop drinking because I'm just as non-functional from the shaking as I am from drinking. Luckily, I toughed it out without continuing a binge. Good luck to you!

If this happens regularly, please seek medical help!
Sweats, feeling a bit exhausted, low mood and headaches & nausea are all part of a normal hangover which can be alleviated by the taking of essential salts and sugars along with alot of water to rehydrate the body. Isotonic sports drinks are very good for this.
If you are regularly drinking alot and shaking the morning after, or when sober, it points to Delirium Tremens - Delirium tremens is a disorder involving sudden and severe mental changes (psychosis) or neurologic changes (including seizures) caused by abruptly stopping the use of alcohol. Rapid pulse rate, elevated blood pressure, and temperature elevation also may be present. It can occur after a period of heavy alcohol drinking, especially when the person does not eat enough food.
It is most common in people who have a history of experiencing alcohol withdrawal when alcohol is stopped, especially in those who drink the equivalent of 7 - 8 pints of beer (or 1 pint of "hard" alcohol) per day for several months, and in those with a history of habitual alcohol use or alcoholism that has existed for more than 10 years.
If that's you - seek help.
If not - just enjoy your alcohol more responsibly! http://www.drinkaware.co.uk

You get the sweats and shakes because you're dehydrated. Don't drink tea, coffee or coke and don't eat chocolate. You will only make it worse. Although, that seems to be what everyone wants when they are feeling the worse for wear.
Basically, drink lots of water and avoid anything with caffeine.

Dehydration and a low blood sugar.
You would need to drink plenty of water and eat some complex carbohydrates. The body uses quite a lot of energy when breaking down alcohol.
Kebabs are good, curries, fish and chips etc before going to bed.

When you drink a lot of alcohol you tend not to sleep properly, so you could be tired.

The sweat is probably your system getting rid of the last of the alcohol.

I imagine this would be a part of a hangover.

Try not drinking vodka, use another alcohol next time and
see if the same thing happens.

Perhaps you are just consuming too much.

good luck

Sounds like delirium tremens (sp?) i.e. you are an alcoholic suffering withdrawal symptoms. Alternate with orange juice/water the former breaks down the alcohol quicker, and keeps you hydrated.

you're not drinking enough alcohol and are suffering from the 'dts' though I don't quite know what that means only that it means drink more and mix your drinks and don't go for longer than 1hr without alcohol and shaking will be the least of your worries
