I'm a sucker for hints.... I suggest you throw hints at him and see what his reaction is. For example, tell him about how you are looking to do something....and see if he responds with "sure,ill come with you"....
Attention is also another thing......if at a party, he pays more attention to you more then others, it means he fancies ya....
Popularity is often a problem though as a guy feels empowered and often waits for the girl to make the move....

he don't hate you. he probably acts that way around his friends. but i bet if you get him alone he will be totally different.
