Why sould you think the soul does? Software can't exist without hardware. A person can't exist without the body.

Your analogy is completely flawed, as the items compared are not similar...a computer does not die because it is not alive.

However, I will use your analogy. The computer dies. The software on that computer hasn't gone anywhere, it is just that that hardware is not capable of executing its functions to carry out the software's instructions. Meanwhile, the software does exist, as the software comes from a creator and is stored separately from the hardware on floppy, CD, DVD or whatever.

The software WILL rise and go to heaven, but if you had treated your computer badly during its lifetime then the software is gonna come down to haunt you forever. You might get hit in the head, get electricuted every 10 seconds of you life or be visited by the old hag more frequently.

it depends, if the puter dies in the right way, then all the software is gone forever...
...the soul, however, was loaded into the body at the moment of conception and the eject was pressed at the moment of death.
Nobody knows for sure what happens after death, but I like the pratchett theory that "whatever you believe happens, happens.".
As such, enjoy your existance in your box, while I shall be visiting old friends in Valhalla or hanging around in ladies gym locker rooms / showers...

when the computer "dies" the software does indeed remain inside. so the "user" decides whether or not the software has done him a "good" job or not. if it has done him a good job, he is likely to get it back and use it again. otherwise, it goes to the junkyard.

Software could be destroyed (burn in hell) or the software could be used for another computer (heaven).

When your computer dies, you will no longer be able to visit Yahoo! Answers. Did you know your soulless computer had that kind of power over you?

But the software can be moved to another computer...

I wasn't intending to turn your analogy into reincarnation, I promise. It just happened.

So, if that's a proof of no afterlife, hmm . . . does that mean that since beer bottles are recyclable that there is an afterlife?
