One fifth of all cancers worldwide are caused by a chronic infection, for example human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and hepatitis B virus (HBV) causes liver cancer.
A third of cancers could be cured if detected early and treated adequately.
All patients in need of pain relief could be helped if current knowledge about pain control and palliative care were applied.
40% of cancer could be prevented, mainly by not using tobacco, having a healthy diet, being physically active and preventing infections that may cause cancer.

There are many different types of cancers (blood, bone, organ, etc) and various modalities for treating each. As a simple object lesson...cancer can oftentimes be traced back to free radicals causing oxidative stress to the cellular [lipid] membranes which can adversely impact our DNA. To neutralize or reduce this oxidation process (and also help repair the DNA), one must increase their level of antioxidants through the ingestion of fruits and vegetables (not isolated nor synthetic supplements like A, C and E). The data is quite conclusive. By the way, if you e-mail Support@PreventionProof.com and ask for their free DVD on the impact nutrition has on cancer, I think you'll appreciate the education.

As for chromosome 22, there is a well characterized translocation, the "Philadelphia chromosome" that is most associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia. It is not ignored. There is a drug, Gleevec, which specifically targets the abnormal protein produced

ki was once told by someone that it can be caused by eating your own skin. Like when you bite you nails or the inside of your cheek. They said that the skin which is swallowed attaches itself onto another part of your insides and starts growing. This causes it to grow adnormal.
Im not sure wheather or not there is any truth to it or not.
