How long do you think you have to know a person before you pop the question? I've lived with her for a year and we've been going out for four months. I feel like I've been her best friend forever.

took me 6 months to propose then 2 1/2 year engagement and then married. Been miserable ever since! Only joking its great being marrried honest!

I am in the same position sort of. I have been with my boyfriend for 2months and he asked me the question. I said yes but now I am not sure. However, at the same time you need to know if you love this person (which I do) and so if you are then I am sure you are ready. it all depends on the individual and the relationship. Why don't you just slip into a conversation somehow asking her how she would feel about getting married in a years time hypothetically or get a mate to do it for you. Then you have an idea. Just be ready and 100% yourself. Good luck and I hope she says yes! x

I don't think there's a set amount of time. Some people are together for 10 years, get married, and then find it doesn't work! Others are together for 6 weeks, get married, and have a wonderful relationship!
I think when you know, you know. If you're able to talk openly with her about future plans and you both agree on where to take this relationship, then I think you're ready. Good luck!

I don't think that you should surprise her. There are more polite ways of finding out whether she is likely to say yes, for example by having a mature discussion about your feelings concerning marriage. Try this first so that no one gets upset or embarassed, or you risk losing a lover and a friend.

I think honestly... if you are asking this question... you are not ready. You will know when you are... everything just 'clicks'.

I would follow you're heart and do what it is telling you to do.If you're heart is telling you to ask her then ask her.But if its not telling you to ask then I would wait till you feel you're heart telling you to ask her to marry you. good luck and always follow you're heart .
