I'm aware that it might be a connection to any gum disease so were going to the vet tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if it can happen naturally as kitty simply didn't notice it fall out & it doesnt seem to be bothering her at all. Do you think it will grow back?

Yes,

Kittens are like humans, they have first teeth & second teeth. The first set usually falls during the first 12 months. Don't be afraid... they are replaced by the second set.
We kept our kittens first teeth that we found... and our puppies too as a keepsake.

young kittens lose baby teeth and adult teeth grow in. if it is an older cat there is a problem that needs a vets attention.

I have 2 adult cats and have had them since they were kittens, and at no time have they lost any teeth, when they do its because of some gum disease, hopefully the veterinary will give you good news.
