It's impossible to be perfect like the Bible tells you to be. That's because the rules are too strict and often contradictory. It does so on purpose. The church uses the guilt of not being able to follow impossible rules to get people to feel bad enough about themselves to go to church.
It's a great marketing strategy.

The Bible doesn't expect us to leave a perfect life. You misunderstand Christianity. The people who preach are just as much preaching to themselves than others, and in fact God usually tests preachers out by expecting them to live by what they preach.
Any Christian who judges another is committing sin, and is indeed a hypocrite. The Bible doesn't contain inconsistencies, only the people that don't understand it do that. By the way,Christianity isn't living the good life, it's a hard and difficult life.

The bible does not teach perfection. Only Christ is perfect if you have read the bible then you would know this. People Don't Condemn But They tell the Truth and the truth hurts those who will not Conform to it which is Inconsistent and Hypocritical of Unbelieving SINNERS who say they have morals and values.

It would be arrogant to claim to live a perfect life when we don't. It is not arrogant to say, "this is how we ought to live," have it as our goal, strive towards it, yet be humble enough to admit when we fail. That is one of the reasons why Christians are taught not to judge anyone.
We cannot judge the Non-Christians. That is God's business.
We cannot judge how other believers express their faith. It is up to God whether or not they succeed.
We cannot judge sin in another person while we are capable of sin ourselves. And we always will be.
We cannot even judge ourselves. That is also God's business.
We are taught of only 2 situations where we can judge. One is to settle disputes, and the other is if someone who claims to be a Christian in our church is immoral (Paul gives a list of what is meant here - 1 Corinthians 5).
When a person chooses to be loyal to God, they are baptised in The Holy Spirit. God then views that person as perfect, even though they clearly are not. This is because Jesus made himself responsible for our failures, and The Holy Spirit is changing us to be more like Jesus day by day. We will be perfected when we see Jesus as long as we remain loyal to God, but I don't know anyone who has got there yet. Some are pretty close, though.

Yes...but the same can be said for being evil. It is nigh impossible for one to be completely evil...no matter how hard one tries.
Both are something one has to work at on a daily basis.
Chances are that I'll never have a perfect marriage, or perfect health, or a perfect job. I don't consider it to be hypocritical to work on improving those things, however.

Christians are sinners just like those in the world. The difference between the two is that Christians are forgiven. They seek to live a life pleasing to God. If a Christian looks at how he should walk, he pays less attention to how the others walk.

Pooh,
A very good question. I've been looking at some of the answers. It never ceases to amaze me, how most Christians say, it's impossible for us to be perfect, when their supposed Master, Jesus, said "Be ye perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect". The reason most believers have trouble with this, is that they have lost the core of Jesus' teachings. (Council of Nicea, 325 A.D.) Jesus came to this world, to bring us a message, both simple, and elegant. "The Kingdom of God, is within you". When we come to God as humble children, and invite Him into our hearts as King and Father, He sends His Spirit into us, and bonds with us. We become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. Jesus said to love our enemies, do good to them, pray for them, and bless them. In the book of Matthew, He made it clear, that this was the test of our perfection. If we do those things, we have taken on the part of God's character, which loves all people in perfection. We still make mistakes, but we do not judge others, and we love them as God does. The reason you do not see this often, is that most believers have not experienced the Spiritual Rebirth. Jesus said that unless we are spiritually reborn, we shall never see the Kingdom.

Are you a Christian? Obviously not...because I am, and in the Bible, it doesn't say to be perfect. The people in the Bible were not perfect. The very beginning says that we were born with sin. But God forgives your sins, small ones and big ones, as long as you stay true to the faith and believe in Him. Even Judas, the man who betrayed Jesus, can go to heaven if he had asked Jesus for His forgiveness.
What i am trying to say is.....no one is perfect, and God knows that. The Bible doesnt tell you to be perfect, but to turn away from sin. If you do sin, you will be forgiven by Him. And even ifyou are not forgiven, as long as you still believe in GOd and Jesus dying on the cross, you will go to heaven whenyou die and live in eternal peace....;D
we are not judged by what we do good and bad in life but in our faith...
God Bless
PS: read the Bible more....

The Bible sais "all man shall fall short of the glory of God" meaning only one man was and can ever be perfect: Jesus Christ. Try your hardest not to sin and hopefully when we face judgment, we will be judged by the good we did in Life and not the bad. God Knows we will fall short..we will not suprise him...with that said, we better to some great compensating..feel me??

Christian means Christ-like. It would be impossible for us to be perfect as we would be Christ if we were.
The Bible also teaches take the log out of your eye before you point out the splinter in your brothers. Many Christians are judgemental and forget that they too have faults and that they should address their faults before pointing out those of others. I dont think it is arrogant but I think it is wrong to assume you are perfect and others are not.
