HI THERE
the problem could be with the ram stick.
sometimes they have a fault which we call d.o.a.
dead on arrival.
in the propertys if it is showing that the stick is there and showing that you have 256 and not 128 then this sounds like it is the problem.
therfore i would try another stick of the same ram and see if this corrects the problem.
if it is corrected when you reboot them the problem was with the 128 ram stick and would take it back for refunding.

Hi,
If your "properties" is showing up as 256Mb, it should mean that things like your RAMchips are Ok, and the board is plugged in OK.
If the BIOS however is only showing half that, then it could be misbehaving. They do sometimes, mine always tells me that the scroll lock is on. Which it isn't
Try downloading one of the freely available "system check" bits of software & see what it reports. If it comes back with 256 or thereabouts available, ignore the BIOS,as I do, and all should be well.

confident - discover out the configuration of your contemporary ram - DDR, PC3200, and so on - and the fee that your gadget desires. you will discover alternative memory at notably much any computer ironmongery shop. in specific cases, as a substitute of having to interchange the RAM chip, you could basically upload on, making use of added memory chips. meaning you will no longer ought to throw the old chip away. basically basically verify you're careful whilst establishing the case and coping with the chip - static electrical energy is a killer to the innards of desktops.
