The difficult lies in our culture. We believe in dumping all that we want to get rid of into a holy. We call that river holy when it can take as much of our sin and filth. Oh, poor Ganga! you have to pay the price for the kind of praise that is showered on you.

We need to inculcate a sense of discipline on the basisof a clear understanding that however holy a river be, it should be allowed to run its course without being disturbed to the extent possible. If Gangamai is to be revered as a mother, it is all the more the reason why she ought not to be polluted.

I don't live in India, but yes, I do know the state of the Ganga river.

The only way to "de-pollute" the river is for all to stop bathing (daily showers and for prayer purposes) and not use the river for laundry and such.

I believe that the reason why the judiciary system failed to stop the pollution in the river is because the river is special and sacred for all Indians (Hindu and Muslims, I think). The only way to stop it is to have temples/mosques issue a nationwide order to not use the river for any purposes. Only then, when no one uses the river, would the Government be able to start cleaning the river.

That's what I think.

Vedic Literatures states that Ganga is a celestial river..
Ganga's Purity not only depends on the impurities that are added by cities and industries but also depend on the Sinful people who take bath in its water and continue to keep sinful activity..

You may make Ganga Clean but how will you maintain its purity ? Clean and pure are 2 different things..

Any way your concern is proper and unless we all work towards it will not happen... The government is Athiest ...
Its no use educating them ... they know only one thing ...
Exploit the resources provided by God to the maximum...
