Well let me break this down for you, I don't think I'm a very good one, Quick hold back CPS. What I mean is that my kids are 2 and 1 and I gave them the best birthday parties and Christmases that money can buy, however, I'm hardly home to be with them normally. See I was working two full time jobs, that's 80 hours a week for the slow ones, and didn't have much time with them. This was so their mom could be there with them and not have to work. Now I have missed out on their first hair cuts, first teeth coming in, first words, first steps and whole nine yards. Now most folks would say that's great you doing that so your wife can be home, well I say this I will never get those memories back. So you tell me am I a great parent or not? Thanks.

I am a 30yr old single parent of a little girl. I am showing my daughter how to be independent and learn good values and morals. But most of all i am teaching my daughter how to love and be loved. Me, I'd like to think I'm a very good parent. Although I'm aware that kids don't come with a instruction manual so how do you know your doing it right. Suppose the adult the kids become is the judge of that......

Not too bad at all, I reckon. I'm not too soft on them, but I don't go over the top with punishments. I make sure they're tucked up in bed at a reasonable hour on school nights, but let them have a late night movie on Saturdays. And when we go on a day out, I know when to back down and let them take over- it's their day after all.
Most of all I'm still very much in touch with my own inner child, which I think is a very important factor in being a good parent.

My husband and I have 2 boys, ages 11 and 10. We are strict but fair and our children tell us that we're the best parents in the world.

I am old fashioned when it comes to respect and being well manared, i think i am fair, i try to talk to my son on his level not from an adults, and i dont belive that spanking/smacks are an option when it comes to disipline.
i am harsh sometimes, but put a lot of effort and thought into my child, and what will help him become his own person, and be a the best person he can be! its a hard job, but very rewarding.x

i think i'm an ok mum, i have a baby and a toddler. i spend a lot of time with them playing n alsorts and give them cuddles and a good night kiss but i tell them off as soon as they do anything wrong, with the toddler i explain y wot he did woz wrong and try 2 get him 2 understand rather than just saying he woz bad.

Strict but fair. I have 3 boys and none of them are distanced from me, my friends comment on their good behaviour and they are full of life and fun,so I can't all that bad! Rules are made and stuck too, so we all know where we stand!

P.S to Eric the king - don't stress too much about what the books say makes a good father - the best daddy things come from the heart.

I'd like to day a good 1. But in reality I think could always do better. Only the kids could give an honest answer to this 1 unfortunately. I'll give them £5 BEFORE ASKING AND LET YOU KNOW.
